20 August 2010 – Pusat Pengurusan Penyu (Turtle Management Centre), Kampung Padang Kemunting, near Pengkalan Balak, Masjid Tanah, Melaka

Following the success of last year’s visit, a second visit to the Padang Kemunting Turtle Management Centre was made on Saturday 20 August 2011, to see the work of the Department of Fisheries, Melaka. It included a talk about the turtles, access to the exhibition room and viewing of hatchlings being released.
We had very good response for the visit that evening. About 50 people including children, many for the Selangor branch. With the good response, maybe we will have to make annual visit to the centre.
We had an opportunity to see a turtle nesting that night. Altogether about 130 witnessed the nesting, including many more from nearby Ismah Resort. Our WWF friends were shocked to see too many visitors that night!
Below are a few pictures taken at the Centre, although with little light the quality is poor.
